A successfully-identified Russian historian has confessed to murdering his lover, his criminal expert says, after he became show in a river with a backpack containing a girl’s hands.
Oleg Sokolov, 63, became inebriated and fell into the river as he tried to receive rid of body ingredients, Russian media said.
Police then found the decapitated body of Anastasia Yeshchenko, 24, at his home in the metropolis of St Petersburg.
Prof Sokolov is a Napoleon expert who has got France’s Légion d’Honneur.
